gus + beau was founded by Liz, who brings over a decade of experience in online retail, having worked with leading brands including Liberty, L’Oréal, and notonthehighstreet.com. The idea for the brand came after the birth of her second son, Gus, in 2017, when she began searching for playmats that were both safe for babies and visually suited to her home.

Struggling to find options that balanced practicality with beautiful design, Liz recognised a gap in the market. Many playmats prioritised functionality but lacked the aesthetic appeal that parents wanted in their living spaces. Determined to create something different, she began designing her own range during maternity leave.

Inspired by modern interiors and the growing desire among parents for simple, muted designs, gus + beau playmats feature clean patterns and soft tones that blend effortlessly into living rooms, nurseries, kitchens, and shared family spaces.
