Famous for its cleansing abilities, coconut oil is the special ingredient that enables a soap so salty to have a wonderful lather. It’s the coconut oil that generates that smooth lotion-like foam.
Raw Organic Shea Butter
Shea butter is a wonderful moisturising ingredient, in its raw form it also contains vitamins A, E and F which are great for boosting skin health and minerals which are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities. A superfood for your skin.
Himalayan Salt
Like all dook salt soaps 50% of its weight is made up of Himalayan pink salt. This incredible ingredient is packed full of skin loving trace minerals that are known for their detoxifying, exfoliating and rejuvenating skin support.
Activated Charcoal
The swirl of charcoal grey through your bar adds a classy touch and so much more: the charcoal is "activated" by steam processing it at very high temperatures. The high temperatures change its internal structure, reducing the size of its pores and increasing its surface area. This means that each grain of charcoal in your soap absorbs more toxins and impurities from your skin, preventing your body from absorbing them.
If you like to apply soap directly to your skin consider putting the soap inside a cotton soap bag to protect sensitive parts from the mildly scratchy salt grains.

Dook
Dook is an artisanal skincare brand based by the sea in Edinburgh. It all began when founder Helen Atherton began to make soap for friends. The combination of the beauty and utility of handmade soap seemed to appeal to all: a bit of everyday luxury and self-care in the shower before launching yourself into another day, taking the time to inhale the fragrance of essential oils as the hot tap sends up a plume of steam, a moment of calm as you wash the day away.
The turning point came in 2018 when a gift of pure Himalayan salt mixed into a batch created a unique and fantastically effective yet beautiful product: a salt-soap.
The natural exfoliant effect of salt makes your skin feel the best it can feel - like it does after a dip in the sea. Dook - an old Scots word meaning to plunge, bathe or dip - was born.
Using the highest quality ingredients and traditional techniques, Helen creates a range of beautiful luxury salt soaps which are naturally palm oil free, paraben free and vegan. Each soap is poured by hand in small batches of 15, designs are created in the soap using natural skin-loving elements - such as activated charcoal and French green clay. Once each bar has completed an air curing process, the soaps are wrapped by hand in recycled wax paper and hand labelled with recycled card. No single use plastic is used at any stage in the manufacture of the soap.
Each and every salt soap is unique, beautiful and useful - giving you a momentary retreat from the whirl of daily life.
