Embrace the Danish Concept of Hygge with Hoogly Tea – Product Review

Hoogly Tea

Herbal infusion teas have had something of a revival over the past few years, no longer been being written off as just something bohemians drink. Nowadays, it seems stranger to drink English breakfast tea than it does to drink something herbal, but when you think of the health benefits of some of these infusions, it’s easy to see why. Hoogly Tea was founded by Tina Gloggengieser, a Danish tea enthusiast who  draws on the joyous Danish lifestyle concept of ‘Hygge’ for her teas: warmth, wellbeing and cosiness. Her unique range of herbal infusion teas which includes wonderfully uncommon blends such as ‘Chillout Mint’, ‘Rhubarb & Vanilla’ and ‘Apple Strudel’, uses 100% natural ingredients and flavourings, and are all blended by hand to ensure that each blend retains its high-quality flavour and health properties. Ethically sourced and fairly traded, its biodegradable tea pyramids are also soil association certified.

Apple Strudel – Green Tea

Hoogly’s tea pyramids use premium whole leaf ingredients with the ‘Cosy Chamomile’ blend also keeping the flowers intact, allowing the brew to benefit from their full flavour. With chamomile being renowned for its sleep-inducing properties, I decide to try the ‘Cosy Chamomile’ blend. Caffeine-free, this infusion is perfect for before bedtime thanks to its blend of ingredients selected for their relaxing effects. A combination of chamomile, lemon verbena and lavender, this tea positively brims with health benefits: chamomile and lemon verbena act as natural, mild sedatives soothing anxiety whilst lavender promotes relaxation – a saviour for those who struggle to nod off. Rose hips with their antioxidant properties are also included in the blend.

Rhubarb & Vanilla – Green Tea

The instructions are simple; merely brew the tea pyramid which comes with a generous amount of tea filling inside, in freshly boiled water for 3 – 5 minutes and you’re ready to go.

Not only does it have a lovely fragrance but true to the chamomile origins of its name, the tea has gentle notes of apple, and there is a mellow, honey-like sweetness in the cup. It has a silky mouth feel and yet remains a clean, delicately floral herbal tea, and even from the very first sip it feels wonderfully soothing. What’s more, I soon find myself drifting off into a natural night’s sleep!

Whatever your preference, you certainly won’t be disappointed with this unique, indulgent brand of teas. So, experience a little of the relaxing ‘Hygge’ way of life and give Hoogly Tea a try, you’ll be very happy you did.
