In Conversation With: Made Your Day

made your day

With a focus on celebration, Made Your Day is a new UK based, contemporary lifestyle gifting brand. Every product is of a premium quality, designed by their former fashion buyer founder considering both style and substance so not only does it look good, it’s practical too. Their beautiful prints are unique to us, specially commissioned and hand drawn, then digitally printed for a lovely soft hand feel. We are sustainably conscious carefully sourcing their fabrics, suppliers and packaging to be as environmentally and socially responsible as possible. Made Your Day’s first collection is a considered range of women’s pyjamas and robes in soft and breathable organic cotton, with contemporary styling and a relaxed fit.

We speak to Victoria Munt about why she started started Made Your Day and what makes her sleepwear so special

Tell us a little about yourself, and what inspired you to create Made Your Day?

I’m Victoria, a former Fashion Buyer with an understated, feminine taste level. I’ve always wanted to start my own business but it was only recently that the circumstances allowed, when we had our little boy. The chance to stay at home and raise our toddler, while founding my own brand seemed to good an opportunity to miss! I wanted to create a sustainable gifting business focussing on celebration, delivering premium and contemporary product that lived up to the occasion it was bought to celebrate. The quality was important to me as it always has been throughout my personal life and career, but at a ‘fair’ price. As my ideas evolved and the collection developed, nightwear became a clear choice as the ultimate everyday luxury, self gift or perfect present for that special someone.

Who are your target customers?

Those who appreciate quality and simplicity, my brand is contemporary and relaxed, beautiful product that is practical too but without the fuss.

What makes Made Your Day standout from its competitors?

Our unique prints on contemporary product design and our sustainable values. Our affordability as an everyday luxury and gorgeous gift.

Why did you choose 100% organic cotton for your sleepwear range?

Founding a new brand, it felt important to start the right way by making Made Your Day as sustainable as possible. My research showed there was little available in terms of modern organic cotton nightwear in the marketplace. I wanted to develop a nightwear collection which was contemporary in design but also environmentally friendly in production. Organic cotton production uses less water and no pesticides, which can harm eco systems and contribute to global warming. I’ve always favoured natural, breathable fabrics and organic cotton can help to regulate body temperature, making it perfect for nightwear to aid a good nights sleep. This ethos runs through to the packaging I have sourced, making considered decisions to use recycled materials.

Do you plan on expanding your sleepwear collection in the future?

Yes definitely. I am working on Long Pyjama Sets and Trousers in time for Christmas 2019, as well as introducing cashmere socks and make up bags to launch the accessories collection.

Where would you like to see Made Your Day being in the next 5 years?

Established in the nightwear and gifting market, with a growing loyal customer base. An ever evolving collection, expanding into baby and children’s nightwear.

Finally, a few pearls of wisdom from you! Run us through your recipe for a great night’s sleep, and some do’s and don’ts that you recommend following, or including in a pre-sleep schedule.

Well I LOVE sleep and luckily have always been very good at it, napping in the day if I had the chance! My bedtime routine is pretty straightforward, for me it’s important to state the intention of sleep long before it happens… Saying you’re going to bed an hour before you want to be asleep so that by the time you’ve done those last minute things (hang the washing, tidy the kitchen) you’re still on track. Also not using my phone or laptop too close to bedtime, as this is a sure fire way to keep my mind whirring rather than allowing me to switch off. Contemporary and relaxed organic cotton pyjamas (my husband says I have no excuse not to wear nice nightwear now), a glass of water and lip balm at my bedside then I’m all set for a good nights sleep.
